A week at the BIG APPLE!! I <3 NYC

Finally I am gonna make a post on my trip to NYC. I have no pictures yet to go along with this post because it's all with my sis. Post graduation, my parents along with my elder sis went on a one week trip to the BIG APPLE baby! I've been dying to go to NYC forever ever since I came to the US. Was super psyched when I was able to give NYC a visit. My aunt from Jamaica joined us and we stayed over at our Uncle's place which mom has not seen like forever and of course the last time I saw Uncle was when I was a baby. Obviously, there's not much memory there. Anyways, he stays in a cozy apartment in Brooklyn. Subways are super convenient in NYC and of course there was a whole lot of walking which is part of the criteria when it comes to travelling! I can't remember what was done on which day and where we went on which day! I was living in the moment! So I couldn't really careless what I did on what day! NYC was really awesome! Basically, everyday at NYC, we had meals at Chinatown over at Grand Street. Dim sum and Malaysian cuisine, life was good for that week at NYC. I was loving the food! On the first day, I remembered we walked a whole lot and I remembered we went down to Wall Street. I love the buildings at Wall St. !! It was all tall and old, it was really nice and of course we visited the famous bull at Wall St. and took pictures with it. We went to Soho (however you spell it, I hope I spelled it right) and sis loved it there because of the cheap Levis jeans she could find there. Anyways, we also went to Times Square and it was a beautiful sight at night! Lights and huge screens everywhere! It was crazy but oh so cool! We also took a picture with one of the NYPD police who was there! Such a sport! ;) So basically just walked for awhile at Times Square and admire the lightings and all before heading home. One of the days at NYC was spent visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I would consider myself nuts for not visiting the Statue of Liberty! (die die must go! ;P) Anyways, it was really beautiful seeing lady liberty. The feeling is really hard to describe. It was just awesome being there! Aside from that, dad, sis and myself went up the Empire State Building whereas mom and aunt were not up for it and decided to go Soho. The view from the Empire State was pretty amazing in a way. All you see are buildings after buildings and how tiny the cars looked from up above yet you could hear the super loud honks made by those tiny little cars. Wind up in the Empire State was dead crazzzyyy!!! My hair was in serious tangles and knots when I got done viewing NYC from the Empire State. I tell myself everyday that I seriously need to go get a hair cut because of that. We also managed to pay Ground Zero a visit. The thought of being there was scary. Imagine being at the spot where the tragedy happened. It was so surreal. There was a memorial built nearby for those who sacrificed themselves to help others during the 9/11. We also went to 5th Avenue and walked here and there and made a few shopping stops along the way. :P Of course, we make it an effort to go to Central Park as well. Central Park was gorgeous! Such a nice place to go jogging or simply just a walk. We just took a short walk, didn't have time to go through the whole park because I think it was huge! One of our stops were at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Uncle brought us there to see the pretty flowers and trees and indeed they were pretty! We spent a few good hours admiring the scenery and beauty of the garden. Finally, on the last day, we went to Woodbury Premium Outlets where they had according to my sis 222 outlets! But we only managed to go into about 5 outlets. Of course we went to the ones that we really wanted to go to. ;) I bought a pair of DKNY jeans, a Polo from Polo Ralph Lauren for myself and my sis as a gift for her birthday and a Coach bag and she sponsored a sum for the Coach sling bag as a gift for my birthday. Oh happy day! I finally got myself a Coach sling bag! And let me tell you, Coach had a really massive clearance sale that day. On top of the outlet price, they had a clearance price and on top of that a 50% off of the clearance price!!! How sweet is that?? Super sweeeeeet!! :) All in all, I really enjoyed my trip to NYC especially with my family. It felt like a bit of home having relatives together. I seriously heart NY!! :)) It was sad when I had to come back to Lincoln mainly because we had to separate and I don't know when I would ever see my family again. I'm keeping my chin up and look forward (somewhat) to starting a new phase in my life. Stepping into the real world now. Somewhat excited but scared. We'll see what life has in store for me. :) I <3 NY ~

i dreamed a dream

the other day i had a dream. a dream of which that i was home. yes, it was so real until my alarm clock rang and i had to drag myself out of bed to head for class. imagine how dreadful the day was for me. i had char kuay teow in my dream but ate nothing close to that for lunch in the real world. haha but i dealt with it. went through the day making the best of it. on another note, let me share with you the beauty of the african violet. :)i know i get pretty messy with my postings, jumping from one topic to another just like that. bare with me. hehe. graduation coming up in 13 days. feels so unreal but it's about time. lol. my parents and elder sis would be coming down for my graduation in 8 days or so. Kinda excited to see my family! It's been really long since I last saw them. ^^ then there's the swine flu outbreak happening in Mexico and some cases in the US. Freaky. >.< hopefully it would get under control soon. no pork for the time being! @.@

feels like february

It's april already but it feels like freaking february! why does it feel like we're skipping spring?! this morning i saw flurries outside my window! YEA! it's that cold in april! the semester is really feeling close to a train wreck, I wonder if I would make out of the semester alive. (this is me sounding dramatic) Anyways, I bought a little pot of African Violet about a month ago and the pretty thing has been blooming ever since but of course there are some dead weight on the plant. Some leaves and flowers dried out but otherwise she's looking rather healthy! :) I have a non-moveable "pet" that only respond to water and light. Oh well, it's pretty! On a side note, I'm sooooo depress it's Sunday again already! I mean I don't hate going for classes and all that, I just wished that the weekends could have longer hours so that we can get work done and have some relaxation time rather than just working on homeworks, assignments and projects during the weekends. I can safely say my life has been really dull since I came here. I'm feeling pretty sleep deprived and i'm snacking away like a pig! gah! it sucks feeling this way. Furthermore, everytime when Sunday comes, a part of me goes away and I can only anticipate the next weekend to be whole again. :( anyways, back to work!

sweeping off the cob webs...

yes, it's been quite awhile...well quite awhile is an understatement as you can clearly see my last posting on this blog. i've been so caught up with classes and work and everything it's crazy i tell u! life has been really hectic and crazy sometimes. wonder what it's like to blog again...feels kinda strange but anyways i miss blogging a whole lot. i almost wish i had the time to blog but i've always wished for time to do my other stuff blogging was at the back of my mind. until recently dear foonz had just reminded me of the existence of my blog she told me she had a new blog and asked me to update update update! i would if i could girl. =P highlight of year 2008, i managed to get a 4.0 for my fall 2008 term. am really happy about it. on a side note, went to Minnesota for the Winter break! I would blog about that when the time comes! right now it's my last semester, would be graduating in May 2009. feels so surreal. it scares me more thinking bout leaving school life and goin into the real world. so its my last semester, i can assure you its way more hectic than any semesters i've ever been on! There is definitely plenty to do, applying for jobs, applying for my OPT, doing projects, posters for my research projects. i like being occupied with things to do but these are all just stressing me out! on another note, i've recently begun working in another professor's lab as a undergraduate lab/research assistant. it was pretty exciting performing some of the lab experiments in an 'out of class' environment. otherwise, that's how life is for now. parents and my sis would be coming down for my commencement in May 2009 and later we'll be travelling to NYC! pretty excited! i miss Malaysia so bad i can almost cry just thinking about char kuay teow...i wanna eat that!!! ;P

life is about to suck...

so the "great" summer holidays is about to come to an end! basically i didn't utilize my summer holidays entirely. there were some things that i've should've done which i regret not doing! dammit! sitting here thinking bout the next semester is almost like waiting for a tragedy that you know is about to occur. That's frightening! Next semester is definitely gonna be hectic! BUT i shall presevere and kick everything that's in my way! Sigh, now i'm looking forward to winter break! Hopefully my trip to Jamaica works this time around. It didn't happen over the summer, which was such a sad case but at least we travelled to Chicago! :)

Chicago Trip!

It's been sooooo long since I made a post. I'm sorry people! I'm just a goner with my blog. ): anyways, since nick complained to me about updating my blog, i guess i could update on my recent trip to Chicago last week! Highlight of my summer here! (: I would love to just post pics and leave it at there but then that wouldn't be blogging right? =P So anyways, the whole trip to Chicago from Lincoln took a whole nice 8 hours by car! yeap you heard me right! 8 freaking hours! Why does US have to be so darn big to travel from one state to another?? Back home, when travelling back to Penang or some other state took about 3 hrs was agonizing enough! I'm proud to say I survived an 8 hour roadtrip in a car! (: Back to story, so it took like 8 hours to arrive at our destination, we left Lincoln at about 7:30am and reached there at about 5pm-ish. Well, we had to stop for breaks throughout the journey so yea! Even longer than 8 hours people! >.< size="5">Millenium Park in which they have this famous huge silver egg dome thingy. I don't know why it's so famous but yea, oh and parking in Chicago is a rip off! If parking by the meter and all is fine but because there wasn't any available parking, we were forced to park at a parking lot which costs us a i-don't-wanna-mention-how much! But anyways, it was a lesson well learned! Then we headed on to Chinatown! To eat of course, eat some good ol' chinese meal! However, since we went there in the evening, and Darren wanted to eat siew yuk, most of the restaurant ran out of them by the evening so we ended up eating at 'Joy Yee Noodle'. The restaurant is more of a modernized rather than the typical kind of chinese restaurant but anyways, they must be famous for their noodles so i ordered 'Duck Noodle Soup'. It's been a long time since i ate duck! Which is why i decided to order it! It was a satisfying dinner. After that, since most stalls were closed we didn't see the point in sticking around Chinatown. So our next destination was supposedly 'Buckingham Fountain' but Darren's GPS went haywire and couldn't lead us to our destination so we skipped that and head on back to the hotel since it was getting late and we were all tired from the 8 hour trip especially Darren. Next day, we went to Brookfield Zoo. Animals are my favorite thing and although i've been seeing alot of them lately, I'm excited about the zoo because they have a dolphin show and a newly opened stingray bay in which you can touch them! The dolphins were soo pretty and nice to watch! Very adorable! As usual, plenty of animals to look at. Touching the stingray was a plus point. They felt so slippery but it was a great experience! We also went into the butterfly park which was lame cuz touching the butterflies is forbidden! -.-'' So anyways, our trip at the zoo lasted till about closing time. We managed to cover everything in the zoo! Just so you know, the zoo is HUGE and by the end of it my feet was really killing me! I was dead tired! After that, we went to 'Navy Pier' kinda like 'Gurney Drive' in Penang but nicer! But when it comes to food nothing beats Penang! =P We stayed there and watched the fireworks show and enjoy the night lights in Chicago. It was beautiful! The next day just before we headed back for Lincoln, we went to Chinatown one last time to see more since we didn't get to the first day. We went to see gift stores and stuff and i found this really cute and pretty wallet. CM and I got the same wallet in different colors! Hehe, then we went to have lunch at "GreatWall' where I has 'Siew Yuk' Rice and a complimetary lotus soup and chinese tea!!! T_T it was heaven! Soon after he headed back for the 8 hour drive back to Lincoln. Chicago was awesome! I'm glad we went for it! It made my summer fun! (: Next destinations : New York, California, Florida, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Minnesota, Texas, Las Vegas!! I WISH!!!!!! ): Will try to make at least one of them work! ^_~v
Here are some pics!

July 4th

so anyways, July 4th was Independence Day. Hurrah! Get a day off from class. So we decided to have meals together (Hainanese Chicken Rice-yum yum!) and played the Game of Life. At about 8pm, we left to go to Oak Lake to watch fireworks and it only starts at 10pm. Cuz the sun doesn't set until 9pm plus so they can only display fireworks later. Anyways, it was great to do something in Lincoln!!! Yea, it's sad here. Staying cooped up in the apartment and all. so kudos to July 4th! (: video video
